This project focuses on the music of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. By looking at five songs from five separate musicals, we explore the use of verbs in driving forward the objectives and tasks of the characters. In order to achieve our goals we use both XML and the Musical Encoding Initiative (MEI) to markup the lyrics and the musical notation respectively. For more about our Methodology, click here
Lauryn is a junior double major in Theatre Arts focusing on musical theatre and English Fiction Writing, as well as a Children's Literature Certificate candidate at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the Vice Chair and Vice President of the Performance Collaborative and Musical Theatre Club, respectively, and a soprano in the Heinz Chapel Choir. She appears frequently in UP Stages productions and plans to pursue a career in musical theatre and teaching artistry following her graduation from Pitt.
Allie is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Classical Language and History. She is a tour guide for the Nationality Rooms in the Cathedral of Learning and plans to continue exploring the Classical World in graduate school.
